Prime Minister Cameron strives for EU deal for Britain

The BBC 19 Feb 2016 - Mr Cameron said there had been "some progress" in the talks which broke up at 05:30 GMT, as he went into a round of one-to-one meetings with EU leaders. He aims to get a deal by the end of the two day summit later on Friday so that he can push ahead with plans for a referendum in June. .

Companies House Update
Changes will be made to the annual filings a company must make at Companies House. Rather than filing an annual return each year, companies will have to complete a 'confirmation statement', confirming that their filed information is correct, at least once in each 12 month period.

January 2016
The most controversial provisions of the Act will come into force with companies being required to maintain a register of persons with 'significant control' over the company - the PSC Register. Three months later, the requirement to file that information at Companies House will come into effect.

October 2015
October 2015, a director's date of birth available via the public register at Companies House will no longer include the day but be limited to the month and year. This measure is designed to prevent that information being used for identity theft.

The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills has published a provisional timetable for the implementation of elements in the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act relating to corporate transparency and the filing of company information.

Dates to Remember:
1 March 2015 - Due date for Corporation tax for companies with an accounting period ended 31 May 2014.
19 March 2015 - PAYE and NIC deductions due for month ended 5 March 2015. (If you pay your tax electronically the due date is 22 March 2015).
Companies House has announced that it is to make all of its digital data available free of charge from next year. The change is expected to come into effect between April and June 2015.

Corporate Directors - Warning
On the 1st October 2010 the grace period for  UK companies to ensure they have at least 1 director who is a natural person ends.

UK Emergency Budget a € Offshore implications
Capital Gains Tax increased to 28% was much lower than market expectations.  Some Insurers
have argued that the 10% CGT increase makes on and offshore bonds very competitive.
No review on non-domiciles but noted that it would take place in the future.
Chancellor Osborne said the government may create a General Anti-Avoidance Rule as well
as allowing inheritance tax on trusts within the disclosure of Tax Avoidance Schemes regime.

Panama to Sign Double Tax Treaty with Luxembourg
Negotiations between Luxembourg and Panama have closed and Luxembourg will become one
of eight other nations (Mexico, Barbados and Italy among them) with which Panama has had successful
negotiations which they hope will one day have them removed from the OECD grey list.
They have reportedly arranged negotiations with Portugal, Singapore, Korea, Ireland and the Czech Rep.

Foreign Office increases legalisation fees

The FCO will increase Apostille Fees as of the 1st May 2010.

WCA as a measure of goodwill to our clients will absorb this increase until the 1st July 2010 whereby the fees will be introduced into our legalisation fees. Please note the increase will only be applied to the FCO disbursement and not to our fees which will remain the same.
